Shopping with Shari!!!!

A few months ago, I had an opportunity to meet another upcycler that I have become friends with through the internet! Shari from Soren Lorensen Design was in town in Scottsdale and I offered to pick her up and take her to a fabric store that I go to for some knits!Shari makes patchwork style upcycled clothing and accessories. I love her work and she is one of the few upcyclers I actually will spend money on, considering, I upcyle too...Our latest purchase was a custom stocking she made for Sadie for Christmas.
Boy did we have fun..so much fun in fact that she was able to fly out here again last week and we met up at the same store and SHE did some serious fabric shopping!
Here is Shari getting a taste of what the fabric store offered in knits the first time she was here.....sorry for the terrible pixelation on some pics...a lot of these were taken with camera phones...

I think she got lost at one point IN the fabric....
Oh how we love our knits.

It kind of is like a fabric heaven when you live in a town as small as she does....
This is what was taken to the cutting counter...
.......AFTER...I sorted through Shari's stuff...because she needed help! LOL..below is the BEFORE pile...
It was wonderful to meet her and we hit it off so well....
...so well in fact that she came back...and this time..she brought her assistant, Ellen, who is equally as nice and just plain cool as Shari!
Here is a bit of the damage Shari did this time!
This was her BLUE pile....yes she had different color piles going on!
Her and Ellen discussing fabric choices! Because there were so many to make!
We were in that store for nearly 6 hours..and bless her heart..Sadie was pretty darn good up until the end!

Ellen found these boxes of amaaazing patches...most of them all vintage and she dug through those for at least an hour! Can't wait to see what Shari makes with the ones she picked up...I am on assignment too, to go back and get more for her!....(Looking for a certain one for Miss Sadie so Shari can make her a special top)
I believe about 175 yards of fabric later...
Me, Shari and her cutting lady, Liberty!
We were going to go over to the Goodwill Clearance center but Shari's directions took us here instead
In Arizona you have to be very careful of your STREETS vs AVENUES...LOL..we finally ended up there and this place was fantastic..Why didn't I know about this sooner? Everything is sold by the pound here!
This entire cart cost me only $23
It was so much fun and I feel so blessed to be able to have met Shari..she is an inspiration, always helps me when I ask her, and an incredibly talented woman...I hope for years of meeting up and shopping! Thank you Shari!

I'm glad you got all this home safely! And I hope to see that pilot that flew you sportin' some SLD real soon! Hahaha!!!
