Sometimes you just gotta stop and make a memory....

This morning I walked into my sewing area to Sadie wearing a dress I finished yesterday for a customer...a size 2 Spiderman dress and she was NOT willing to take it off without a fight! I had to nicely persuade her so the dress wouldn't get slobbered on in the middle of a fit, or stretched out in the fight to get it off, and convinced her that we could make her, her own dress! I let her in on the box of tee shirts that I have stashed for her that I rarely get too....(poor girl)! She quickly eyeballed the Lilo shirt I put away for her and pulled it out screaming in delight over it! She took it right to the cutting table and said "Cut it, mommy"! I took her to my hawaiian fabrics and let her pick two..a hawaiian shirt for the sleeves, and some pretty pinki fabric for the bottom of the dress! I picked out the neck ribbing and she watched me as we started cutting! I had her help me by telling me which fabric to hand me and showing her the numbers on the tape measure as I measured out certain parts....
Some of the fabric I let her choose from
She even picked out thread colors!
She was soooo excited while waiting for her dress to be made and sat right next to me the whole time! It reminded me of when I was a kid and I would ask my grandma to make me things! I would sit there the whole time she sewed with so much excitement!
The fabrics she picked out waiting to be sewn!
The finished dress!!!! Now lets see if I can keep her out of the box of tees and get some  work done!!!
It was actually a pretty special time I had with her and look forward to many more moments of creating outfits for her together! Hopefully she stays dressed today, as she is notorious for changing clothes fifteen times a day! Lets also hope she doesn't decide to go cut and sew a dress herself.....if you've followed me for awhile, you know this is very likely!!!!! LOL!

She looks so proud of herself in her dress! I can't wait for August to have an opinion on what she wears!

Love it! This is very reminiscent of many Tillie moments we have here! Every dress I make is one she wants to try on! Every so often we do have to take a break and hug them, create WITH them! I'm sure she is much of your inspiration as my girls are for me =) I don't know what I will do when they no longer love what I do as much as I do! I pray that never happens for us!
