Quilting for the first time!

My friend Caroline that blogs over at sewcanshe.com created an event called a "sew-along"! Basically you go along week by week with instructions to make a project! This project was going to be a Herringbone quilt block tutorial with the freedom to turn the blocks into anything. I was immediately hooked by the challenge! I am getting a late start to this project mainly because I didnt want to commit to something I'm not sure I could even do but I've been reassured over and over that this would be a great project that I am well equipped to handle with my sewing experience. So, off to the fabric store I went... I walked and walked the aisles not having any idea what I wanted to make. I finally decided on making baby #6 a quilt when I came across this adorable vintage circus fabric.
I paired it up with a few coordinating prints. Now just to cut and wait for next weeks instructions! Do you quilt? What are some extremely easy blocks you've made, or seen made? Yikes, this might be my new addiction! Follow along too or just watch and see what happens with my first quilt! Check out the designers original quilt! So eclectic! So scrappy! So me! Must do!
